The 35th Annual Denton Arts & Jazz Festival kicks off this Friday, April 24th at 5pm.
This free festival has become a mainstay in the Denton community so if you haven't experienced it yet, this is the year to do so! We have the low down on what to look forward to and what to expect right here!

Music: There is no lack of music to keep the festivities going. The event boast seven stages with continuous musical acts and roving musicians throughout the fairgrounds. Acts to look for this year include: The UNT One O'Clock Lab Band, Randy Brecker, Dr. John the Night Tripper and Brave Combo.
Even if you aren't familiar with these artists you will still get swept away by the festive music playing in the background as you explore and discover everything else the festival has to offer.
Fine Art and Crafts:
A cornerstone of the festival is arts and crafts. There are over 200 booths with artists and craftsmen representing Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Arkansas, Oregon and beyond. You can find everything from a necklace for your wife to a rustic oil painting for your walls. There is also a juried art competition for all the fine artists participating this year.
There are so many activities for kids at the festival! Along with face painting, rock climbing and playgrounds there are actually three tents dedicated to children's activities:
The Children's Art Tent includes such activities as Clay and Flower Sculpture, Tan gram Art, Stamp Art, Collage and Drawing.
The Children's Wood Tent assists kids in exploring different types of wood and then helps them create anything they can dream of.
And finally, the Percussion Petting Zoo Tent houses percussion instruments from around the world. This is a unique, hands-on exhibit where kids are encouraged to play and discover different sounds.
German sausage, hot dogs, cotton candy, funnel cakes, corn dogs, fresh squeezed lemonade, roasted corn, ice cream, egg rolls, shish kabobs, burgers, salads, baked goods, turkey legs, BBQ, popcorn.... You will not go hungry!!! There are 6 food courts where you will find all this and more. Bottled water, beer, wine, soft drinks, coffees and a variety of ice drinks will also be available.
